Opposition
leader Raila Odinga has been losing members of his Orange Democratic
Movement (ODM) to rival camps ahead of
the 2017 election.
A number of ODM leaders have decamped to rival parties lately as the 2017 polls draw closer.
However,
as they leave, Raila has been busying himself with recruiting new ones,
with the latest being University of Nairobi student leader Babu Owino.
Owino has lately been very close to Raila, with the latest being having lunch at the former premier's office in Nairobi.
Owino shared photos of him and Raila enjoying brown and white Ugali with fish and other delicacies.
The
controversial student leader is eyeing the Embakasi East parliamentary
seat under the ODM ticket, and his closeness to Raila is an indication
he is determined to win the seat.
Owino has
made his name as student leader, albeit amid a series of controversies
that have marred his reign at the oldest university in Kenya.
Early 2016, the University was compelled to close
indefinitely when violence erupted following the controversial
re-election of Owino for a fourth term.
A section of students opposed to his re-election went on rampage and damaged property in the institution.
Owino's closest rival, Mike Jacobs, was expelled from the university for allegedly leading the violence.
